On the 19th to 21st of July 2017, Fidelity Printers and Refiners (FPR) attended the 22nd Edition of the Mine Entra Expo at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo. The 3-day annual event, ran under the theme; “Exploring Linkages in the Mining Value Chain”.
Out of the 120 plus exhibitors who showcased their different businesses during the Mine Entra Expo, Fidelity Printers and Refiners came out second best in the services provider category. The following criteria was used to determine the winners; overall impression, originality, information and quality of personnel on the stand.
The first day of the Mine Entra Expo started off with the Women in Mining Breakfast Meeting with the attendants gaining more knowledge on the practical perspective of the mining environment and learning more about ways of involving women in the mining supply chain. Presentations on opportunities and providing a supportive environment for women in the mining sector were also given.
In the afternoon, there was a Young Professionals Forum where the youth especially the women had the chance to learn more about the mining gap opportunities for young women in mining. The key note address given by Hon Fred Moyo, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, centered on “Finding Your Place on the Mining Value Chain”. The panel discussion on value addition and beneficiation opportunities for youths looking at diamond cutting, chrome and gold was followed by a plenary session where the youth had the chance to ask the panelists questions.
During the official opening ceremony of the 22nd Edition of the Mine Entra Expo, Ms R. B. Ncube, Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company Board Chairperson, in her speech emphasized the need for miners to focus on the side stream linkages and not only focus on the downstream and upstream linkages.
Dr Mike Bimha, Minister of Industry and Commerce in his opening remarks, noted that the theme for this year’s Mine Entra is appropriate as growth is being realized in the mining industry despite a few challenges that are being faced here and there. He further encouraged miners to support local production of equipment. Dr Bimha urged delegates present to network, continue with the hard work they have been doing and to grow linkages in the mining sector.
On behalf of Fidelity Printers and Refiners, Mr. David Mpofu, Refinery Operations Manager, gave a presentation during the Small Scales Miners Conference. The presentation focused on gold buying and the loans disbursement facility update. The Conference which ran under the theme “Enhancing the ease of doing business for the small scale mining sector” was a great platform for the miners to lobby Government on issues affecting the industry.
Attending the Mine Entra as Fidelity Printers and Refiners for the fourth time this year was great exposure for the Company. Some of the benefits included; showcasing our products and services, scaling up and expanding the scope of the mining sector linkages and addressing any queries brought forward about the operations of the company.
